Waikiki, also known as Waikiki Beach, is a neighbourhood of Honolulu on the south shore of the island of Oahu in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Waikiki is Hawaiian for “Waikk,” which is also the name of the neighbourhood.
Of the six beaches in the area—Beach, Queen’s Kuhio Beach, Gray’s Beach, Fort DeRussy Beach, and Kahanamoku Beach—Waikiki Beach is the one that is most well-known. Nearly all of Waikiki Beach is created by humans.
